How to Know if a Client Viewed Your PR Coverage Report

3 min read · Updated July 2026

What Triggers the Email (and What Doesn't)

The notification fires once per new visitor per day, not once per page load — if your client reopens the report five times in an hour, you get one email, not five. PRCharter recognizes repeat visits from the same person on the same day and skips the duplicate notification.

It also never fires when you open your own report's share link while logged in — the server recognizes you as the owner and skips the notification entirely, so previewing your own work won't trigger a false alarm.

The email is sent server-side and is best-effort: if it fails to send for any reason, your client's view of the report is unaffected — only the notification is skipped.

Want More Than Yes/No? Report Analytics

The email tells you someone opened the report. For more detail — total view count, how long they stayed, what device they used — open the report's Analytics page (also reachable from the row menu on your Dashboard: View Analytics). It's a deeper, more admin-facing view: a view-by-view table, a 30-day trend chart, and which specific articles got clicked.

Most of the time the email notification is all you need to know a client engaged. Analytics is there when you want the detail behind it, not as something you'd check instead of the email.

Privacy

Neither the view email nor Report Analytics identifies a named individual — there's no login or account tied to a view. The email itself mentions only a general country and device type (for example, "someone from Canada just viewed your report on a desktop device"); Analytics shows the same limited signal set — timing, duration, device, general location — without tracking a specific person.
